POST-PRODUCTION HAS BEGUN

Hey, Family—
First, all of us at Team Cohen wish you a happy New Year! I am back in rainy L.A. warm and dry in my editing room cutting the million feet of film I shot together. My editors, Joel Negron and Kelly Matsumoto, and I meet each morning to discuss the plan for the day’s attack. Sometimes I like to go in scene order, sometimes we strike at scenes more randomly, and soon I will have a good first pass through the entire movie.
Editing is one of my favorite phases of the film making process. This is my 30th movie and the elasticity of the medium is still constantly illuminating. There are “the rules” of matching, screen direction, etc., but all of those can be broken to good effect at the right time. Editing is rhythm, modulating the storytelling at the proper pace like a conductor setting the time signature for the orchestra. There are passages of your story you have to slow down for nuance, performance, and information. There are times when the narrative must have more attack. Scenes need to breathe—but not too much or the movie might drag, seem too long, too obvious. It is so much like music, dependent on rhythm, and storytelling melody.
There are thousands of cuts in a film and each cut represents a thousand considerations: go to Brendan who is speaking the line or to Maria who is reacting to it? Show the full scope of the set or build up a unique location in pieces? Actors are the main driving force of the edit and performance is the highest value. A film might move along so fast that the humanity is lost; it might be wallowing in humanity and the narrative excitement is lost. It depends on the nature of film and the inner voice of the film and how well a director and his/her editors respond to the urgings that actually come from inside the movie itself.
Film is plastic in the best sense. It is pliable to a degree difficult to explain. It’s almost mystical. Editing software is readily available and I urge all of you who are interested to experiment. Shoot a simple scene giving yourself a number of angles with which to work and cut it. After your first few cuts, the portal to this creative process will open and, once you pass through, you may find what I’ve found—an addiction.
I took part in an excellent documentary a few years ago along with Scorsese, Spielberg, and many other fine directors called “THE CUTTING EDGE: The Magic of Movie Editing” which I highly recommend to all of you.
Todd Grossman and I have another video, which should be posting shortly, taking you inside our wrap night and the mighty fireworks display that our Chinese and American effects team put on to commemorate the end of shooting. I hope you enjoy it.
800 visual effects, music, sound design, and dubbing all lie ahead so I will keep you abreast of my pilgrim’s progress. Until then, bye bye, for now….
Rob

P.S Delilah i had a laugh at your post on the last page the one about me being a Godfather it was funny but i have to ask..now don't laugh but.. was it a reference to the movie The Godfather i have never seen any of them so i wouldn't know lol just had to ask
By David C on January 7, 2008 6:40 PMlater days
Geee David, I´m sorry if I made you feel confused honey...of course it was a reference ( and some quotes) from the exquisite movie " The Godfather"...( BTW, you should see that trilogy dear Bro)
Awww anyway...you certainly must get ready for my "phobia-attack" ( in case we meet some spider during our wild trip )Don´t worry, I don´t use to shout " GET IT "...no, mine is like a scream with no words... kinda " mmmyay mmmyay mmyaya"...meanwhile I cover my mouth with my hand ( God knows why!! )and start running like hell ...pathetic, don´t you think...

By Delilah on January 7, 2008 7:06 PMWE WERE WORRIED YOU'D GOTTEN TO ADDICTED TO YOUR EDITING, WE THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER COME BACK!!
But hey, the longer the better right? And you brought a goodie too!!! Thats definately an amazing fireworks display, who better to set it up other than special effects artists?!! AMAZING!!!
We CANNOT WAIT!
By Nefertirievy on January 7, 2008 7:14 PMLoved the video Rob. There wasn't enough of my fav man in it but I loved the hug.
By maz on January 8, 2008 5:03 AMDeeDee, I really wish I could gain enough energy to protect you from the spiders but it is only time which will replace my energy levels (and my ability to feel comfortable wearing a bra...skin peeling and all).
You enjoy yourself though. Make Cloudy earn his keep as your protector.
The fireworks were great on the video. It reminded me of new year 2000. I danced till the early hours then and went out to watch everybody's fireworks at midnight, then walked six miles home at about 5am (I was fit in those days).
Rob, please give us a little update on Barbara's progress with the babies. Please give her my best wishes.
Brendan, I hope you are looking after yourself properly and keeping well.
I'll check in later on.

Hi Rob and family offcourse !
Yes YES YES !!!I can't wait i am driving everyone frantic with my enthusiasm about this blog and offcourse the film wich i finally can see in summer....I know every artistic proces cost time but it's great fun to see and feel that it is all worth while at the end...well Rob life IS mystical ,my friend Vanessa asked me if i wanted to design the card for her newborn,i totaly paint or draw intuitively ( i probably didn't write that correct but he i have a good excuse i am from Holland ),so i made her two so she could choose. That is mystical too when i make someone a drawing or painting it is always so beautiful to find out that people immediately feel the connection when they come to get it..I am truly grateful having this gift.
I also have dreams where i can see things that are about to happen or will happen, example i dreamed of a little red headed boy with beautiful blue eyes and freckles,it turned out to be my son Yarnick,i dreamed this two years before he came...Well give my best to Brendan,i am glad he had a double for this movie...
Love to you all,
By anita on January 8, 2008 6:52 AMAnita XXX
Woowww Anita, you are like " Pleasure", Brendan´s character in "The Air I Breathe" ...errr...except that he is a "gangster who sees the future " LOL. No, seriously, what an impressive gift you have. It´s always a gift? or sometimes you can consider it´s a sort of " curse" ? I always thought how overwhelming must be ( for people who can "see the future "), if they dream about things that will happen, and some of those things are misfortunes :( Anyway I hope you can dream and predict just beautiful things...things that finally come true...like your beautiful red-hair kid !( BTW I have my own good excuse to explain my multiple-blunders: I´m from Argentina ! LOL LOL )
Maz, I couldn´t agree more Sis...not enough Brendan to me either...But I LOVED the video !those fireworks are simply breathtaking...wouldn´t you love have been there?? ;) (OK OK I know, silly question ! LOL )
Yes, I love the hug moment...but especially the fleeting glimpse of the dancing scene...so handsome and seductive in that tux !
( OK boys...we warned you, remember ? Now, we are having a serious " estrogens-overload-alert " LOL LOL LOL ) Get used to the idea pals...
HELLLLLLL YEEEAAAHHHH!!GO TEAM COHEN !!
DeeDee
PS: Kyle...are you in the video ? If so...could you give us some tips to recognize you ?
By Delilah on January 8, 2008 7:44 AMhi mummy fam
By David C on January 8, 2008 8:14 AMreally quick one i'm at work just wanted to say you all know my excuse for my blunders... i lost my spell checker lol and Anita that is facinating it is really cool to have a gift like that did you know it is believed by some people that when a soul leaves one life and is about to be reincarnated into another life they have to choose a mother to be born to and when they have choosen that mother the mother is notified by a dream so maybe you had your dream about your child when he choose you to be his mother i think thats sorta nice what you guys think.
Anywho i need to go but hi to you all hope you are all well oh and Delilah you are right huni i think i do need to watch those movies i have been thinkin bout watching them for a while but i never was really interested but then again thats what i said about Star Wars before i watched it and i wont getinto what i think about them (THEY ARE SOOO COOL) LOL ok i'm off talk later
peace

By Steven on January 8, 2008 12:29 PMI just watched the video which was exciting as well. The fireworks display was amzingly beautiful. That was really put together well! I also might add that I like that they've been playing Jerry Goldsmith's music from the 1st film in the last two video posts!

Hi Delilah,
By anita on January 9, 2008 8:39 AMIt is truly a gift because i help people with my gift...But it isn't always a blessing to be that sensitive.I can't be to long in a very big crowd ,because i pick up all sorts of vibes. And some are pretty heavy...If you like you can check out my website www.angelic-art.nl (anita van der Est)because my site is in dutch as english aswell.Well i haven't noticed that you are blundering on this blog i guess your englisch is better then mine.I hope this doesn't sound to wacky but i sense your a very caring and loving person with your heart on the right place but be careful people don't take advantage of that..and your connection with Brendan isn't just fan like, i feel more on a deeper soullevel ...if you want to know more you can email me Delilah, because anyone can read this... aniyaele@hotmail.com
You allready have experienced a lot in your life. But your soul shines i can feel that.
Much love,
Anita XX
Wooow...Anita, thanks...you sent shivers down my spine...I will check your web-site, and surely I´ll email you, ASAP!

By Delilah on January 9, 2008 9:25 AMI know your talking to Delilah, but I just checked out your site too Anita. You are really really talented!! I loved all of your paintings, they were all so colorful and surreal. I was so intrigued by the spirituality within each painting. You truly do have a gift. Kudos!!
By Clouded_Reality on January 9, 2008 10:10 AMHI clouded and Delilah,
By anita on January 9, 2008 10:45 AMThank you both for your enthusiasm...Yes i am trying hard to get my work all over the world because as you both have noticed these aren't just paintings.they are here to send some beautiful positive energy to the people of this planet.because much is going on and people really need positivity in their lives...Here in Holland are a lot of spiritual people i also give workshops with my paintings so people can get in touch with their innerself and the Angels....I send you hugs...xxx Anita... and Delilah what i said is really true and you felt it...my love to you !
Hi David,
Sorry i read your comment later on,yes i do believe that yarnick chose me to be his mother..we have a beautiful connection. And i know he is a sensitive child to because he says things about people. Some time ago he just said : "mum, the angels have all kind off colours, but it is never black"isn't that wonderfull ??And even if we don't feel a special bond with our parents we choose that life to learn some important things that allows our soul to develop and grow like a flower....
Much love ,

Hey all,
Steven, you're right! I noticed that as well. It is so cool that they are using Goldsmith's music in these videos. It's a nice soundtrack and it is warming to hear. Like coming home or something like that. No love for Silvestri, though. Maybe next time they will put some rousing music from 'Mummy Returns.'
I can't wait to hear what Randy Edelman has in store for us in the new film. I love his score for 'Dragonheart' and 'xXx.' I can't believe 2008 is here already. We've waited a long time, and we deserve the best.
I was happy to hear Mr. Robbie Cohen say that the film is swashbuckling. That is one of the main things it definitely should be. I love the 'Pirates' movies, but the one thing they lacked was a big of swashbuckling, in the music and the images. I am excited to see what will come.
How bout you all? Maz, Dee, Anita, Cloudy, how are you holding up?
Ciao,
Ryan
Boo Yah, Team.
By Ryan on January 9, 2008 9:10 PMSup Ryan, you see we've been gettin' a little spiritual here. LOL. If you haven't already, check out Anita's site. Her paintings really are quite splendid. On the Mummy side of things, I have to say that I was really happy too when Rob used the word "swashbuckling" to describe TM3. One of the reasons I really started to get behind this film was because I had read that Rob was going to direct a Sinbad movie at one point and instead wound up doing Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. The Mummy and Sinbad are basically the same exact thing/genre, so I knew then that this Mummy would be kick ass. Not to mention that I love Simon Duggan's lighting and Vic Armstrong's stunt work. This movie is like a win-win situation for me. I'm so glad it's 2008, now we only have mere months to wait in anticipation. Damn I can't wait to see the final product...
HELLLL YEAAA!! GO TEAM COHEN!!
By Clouded_Reality on January 9, 2008 10:35 PMHello my Mummy Family...
Cloudy...we ALWAYS were pretty spiritual...that´s why we are so lovable ! LOL
Hi, Ryan...well, I have to confess...I had to search on my dictionary...I didn´t know the meaning "swashbuckling" !! (blush) ( anyway, this is one of the reasons that make me LOVE the web...I´m always learning something new!! ) OK, now that I know what it means...YESS!!!I adore that, and I´m sure TM3 is gonna be a really swashbuckling movie !!
Well, aahheemmm...what would you expect ? Rick O´Connell is back ! YESSS!!! MY favourite fearless, romantic, and adventurous archetype. Definitely, a classic swashbuckler !!! ;)
HELLL YEEEAAHHH!!!! GO TEAM COHEN !!

PS: BTW, speaking of Sinbad...did you know that Brendan was the " voice" of Sinbad in the animation movie " Beyond the Veil of Mists" ??

Dee Dee, I need your assistance... where can I find the Journey to the Center of the Earth trailer?? I've been on a hunt since last night and haven't came up with anything. I know if anyone knows where to the Big Guy, it's YOU!! LOL. Oh and I didn't doubt that TM3 was gonna be awesome, but knowing that Rob was directing and then looking at the list of the cast/crew... I was given a little more incentive to hop on the proverbial "bandwagon". LOL.
HELLL YEAAAA!! GO TEAM COHEN!!
P.S. What's up David!! (Another thing too Double-D, you are definitely right!! For the record, we all are quite a lovable bunch aren't we?? LOL)

Hey Cappie...there´s no trailer online for Journey-3D, yet :( ...On the official page for the movie

So, I´ll be a very good girl and won´t say a word about what happened to my hormonal levels after I saw those pics...( especially the first one...BIG SIGH) I´ll just say : gorgeous! ...awww...same old story !!! LOL LOL LOL
HELLLL YEEAAHHH!!! GO TEAM COHEN !
Yesss Cap.!! We are indeed a lovable bunch !!
DeeDee
By Delilah on January 10, 2008 10:06 AMYes everyone, we are getting more lovable each day. We have always been a little spiritual here but then so is Rob. We've just turned the spiritual volume up a notch or two.
By maz on January 10, 2008 10:23 AMAsk away David. We'll tell you anything you want to know.
Cloudy, you have some spirit too . You just don't like to show it too much. If you weren't a little spiritual you wouldn't get along with the rest of us....but you do so we must have a lot in common eh?????
Ohhhh Darn Double-D, that sucks that it's not out yet. And I don't have an IMAX theater in my area that's playing Beowulf, so I guess I'll just have to wait. *sigh* I've seen all the pics though, and the new poster. Looks like some pretty cool stuff.
Anita, why would we think you're looney?? I know you've read our previous posts and conversations... they usually aren't that sane. LOL. We are all different and that's what makes us all that much more AWESOME!!
Maz, I have alot of spirit actually... I'm just an introvert. I'm not a complete womanizing and drunken scoundrel. I just play one on the internet. LOL. What can I say, I love doing improvisational comedy. Especially in this lovely Mummy Blog!!
Hellll Yeaaa!! Go Team Cohen!!
By Clouded_Reality on January 10, 2008 11:24 AMAnd we love playing along Cloudy! It exercises our imaginations to the full.
By maz on January 10, 2008 12:09 PMDon't you limit your playfulness just cos we are being a little bit insightful today. We love the little flights of fancy you initiate. They've kept us sane between updates (and probably amused some of the visitors to this sight).
Must dash now but I'll check in later to see what you've all been up to.
Hiyo,
Cloudy, I follow your philosophy completely. You and I are on the same page. I love Duggan's lighting, too. And I've loved Vic Armstrong since 'Raiders.' I hope all the pieces fall into place. I had never seen 'xXx' watched it recently and it was nothing like I expected. It was really cool. And good. I was very impressed.
Dee, I don't really know what swashbuckling means! It is more of a feeling. When I hear the word, images come to mind. I just looked it up, and it is pretty much what I think of. Flamboyantly adventurous. Pretty spot on. And you're right: romantic-adventurous. That is the most important part, for me, at least.
And, Anita, the paintings are lovely. You should be very proud. My favorite is 'Jeshua.' I went to Catholic school all my life, and even for a Doubting Thomas like me, I understand it's power.
I like this spiritual talk. Keep cranking it up, Maz. And, David, how are you? You working too hard?
Love and hugs,
Ryan
Hell Yeah.
By Ryan on January 10, 2008 2:11 PMOh Cappie, yeah, like I do have and IMAX theater in my area !! :( SOB SOB...can you imagine how desperate I will be when they release Journey 3D in my country ?? Probably my only opportunity to see a 3D-Big Gorgeous Guy, and I will miss it !!!??? LOL LOL LOL AAwww well...I just will drive to some IMAX theater...Buenos Aires is a big city...
Hi Maz and Anita... I guess we all like our present " turned up-spiritual volume ":D ( hey Maz, I like how you called it!! ) After all, we all do feel the magic connection with artistic expressions, don´t we? And that feeling comes straight from our spirit...
Oh Cloudy, honey, we all know that you aren´t really some "complete womanizing and drunken scoundrel "...just a little bit...LOL LOL...no, seriously, of course we know that´s a role you are playing on the Internet...We all are playing some role, sometimes...and it´s terrifically amusing !!! So, let´s keep doing that, shall we ?
And Ryan...yes, absolutely... the " romantic -adventurous" part is the most important one for me too!!
Hey David...come on and join our " spiritual side" Bro !!
Ummhh...KL my dear...you are absolutely spiritual too, I know that...we are waiting for you...
By Delilah on January 10, 2008 3:10 PMAnd you Suzie...where the heck are you Sis?? It´s everything OK ? I truly hope so...
Well...see you all later...
Big Hugs...

HELLLL YEEAHHHH !! GO TEAM COHEN !!
Yes, Suzie, KL where are you? You are being missed!!! Come and join in and go and look at Anita's sight. It's lovely and peaceful there.
By maz on January 10, 2008 3:31 PMKyle, sweetie, where are you too. We still want to talk to you. You didn't tell us if you were on the latest video.
Hi you guys !
I am taking a break busy painting as usual i am busy painting the twinsoul energy for a woman in belgium it's almost finished and very beautiful !!Sometimes i wish we could all get together to really meet...but don't get me wrong i like this too!!Hi Ryan,The enrgy of Jeshua is a the growing and developing energy of the Christ. Not only human souls develop but also the Angels and masters...Anyone of the englisch folks knows Shakin Stevens ?In summer i go to Dorset with my sister i 've been forced to join her to go to one of his concerts...She brainwashed me ha,ha so if a song starts i immediately can sing the song...But i think England is a beautiful country,Also been to Ireland three times i like the old castles...were the knights of the round table we dance whenever were ableha,ha Monty Python,a wacky serie aswell,..Rob must think were a loony bunch !!
Have to get painting again !!
Love LOVE,
By anita on January 11, 2008 12:59 AMAnita XXX
I hope Rob thinks we are a looney bunch. We are, aren't we?! We are looney in, of course, the best sense of the term.
I've been to Ireland, too. It was very atmospheric. The castles and churches were beautiful.
Open conversation starter: If you could visit any one place in the world, where would you go?
Your looney friend,
By Ryan on January 11, 2008 9:19 AMRyan
Hey Ryan,
Well there are a lot of places where i want to go.
But as i were much younger i always wanted to go to Egypt. The Pharao's and the pyramids always fascinated me.
And offcourse i have a special place in my heart for Los Angeles.I feel at home in America...Accept the fact that i insulted some people there....My english is ok for a Dutchie ,but when i am getting tired or irritated i make the most idiot mistakes.I was in a restaurant somewhere in L.A. and i was a bit tired and hungry so i was glad to have a bite,finally...A young woman asked me if i wanted some more salad ..My answer : "No Hoor ( sounds like Whore ) I mixed english with dutch and hoor is a very common word here in holland wich i often use.I didn't realise it but my husband almost fell under the table,i was surprised why he laughed then he told me.I just finished my meal and we left very quik,ha,ha
At Starbucks i said the same to a guy behind the desk he turned red i started to laugh and all the other people in line too, because i explained hoor is dutch...Wait ,wait i have another one for you guys...Rick and i were shopping in Bloomingdales.NY a very friendly man helped Rick..Before we left Rick turned to the man and said : "thank you for your excistence, the man was so kind not to laugh but i burst out in a laugh ,very long and hard and i couldn't stop..then the shopassistence laughed too..Rick didn't ha,ha,ha !!!
Well there are a lot of beautiful places in the world where i would like to go to and i probably will because i will have to travel for my work in future ,well that's what i believe.....
If i look at the video's of Rob i sense he is a very sensitive man too, very strong intuition,he also reminds me of a tibetan monk.I guess a lot of people come to Rob to have a good talk because he CAN listen and carries a lot of inner wisdom...
Have you all noticed that Brendan played some movies very much related to spirituality ? Still Breathing offcourse, bedazzled, and in mummy 2 they are having conversations about reincarnation....Well i go to have a coffee break !! Have a gooden you all !!
Doeiiiiiii,

Where would I like to go? Well, like Anita, I would like to go to many places. Egypt, Niagara Falls, The Grand Canyon, The site of 9/11 to pay my respects to the people who died there. Then I would like to visit Italy, to see where my grandparents came from.
By maz on January 11, 2008 12:34 PMApart from that I'm quite content to stay at home......
Hmmmmm... I'm on the same boat as Anita and Maz. I can't decide on just one place. First off though, I'd go to AMSTERDAM (for medicinal purposes of course. LOL!!). Next on my list would be Salisbury plain to see StoneHenge (I've always been intrigued by that place). Then it would be off to southern Mexico to see some Aztec and Mayan Temples and other architectual whatnots. I'd have to stop by Hawaii for a bit of R&R and some hula-dancing. LOL. I've been to Africa before, but I'd love to visit the Southern region and Egypt as well on the next go around. Jamaica would be next on my list (I might actually be going there this summer!!). I'd even want to go to Antartica or Alaska if given the chance, just to say I'd been there. Geez, there's so many more choices too... and so little money for me to get where I need to go. *Sigh* I'll find a way one day.
By Clouded_Reality on January 11, 2008 6:57 PMHey Rob & Mummy Family,

Hey Rob,
By Scott on January 13, 2008 6:47 PMIt's good to hear that you are in post-production! I can't wait to see a trailer for this :). I want to become a director in the coming years and I love your quote about deciding whether to show Brendan speaking the line or Maria reacting. Thank you for posting regular updates, too! Good luck with the editing,
~Scott
Hello everyone from the Mummy family!
I just found this blog today and I loved it! Tonight I'll have a nice time watching all the documentaries...
I'm really really really looking forward watching the Mummy 3!
Even though I sweared to God I would never be a fan of something called the Mummy some years ago, I watched it with my family and loved it from the start. How very strange...
Talking about strange and mystic powers: When I sometimes think "I haven't seen X for quite a while", that person I'm thinking of will turn up the same or following day. During my study year abroad 2005/2006 I was in Tokyo and "predicted" three earthquakes...It went like this: (First time)
Me: Hmm...We hadn't had an earthquake for quite a while, don't you think?
Friend: Hopefully we won't have another one as big as the last one...(meaning that we needn't hide under our tables)
The same evening we had one!
The next time:
Friend: Don't you think the last earthquake was way long ago?
Me: Now you said it!! Now we'll have one tonight.
And we did.
But whatever. The year 2008 will be one of many changes. I'll graduate from Marburg University (nice university in the middle of Germany, is 425 years old...talking about mummys) and need to find my place in life. I enjoyed reading Rob Cohen's Blog and hope I'll find something I like doing as much as Rob loves doing his work.
By Comen on January 14, 2008 6:12 AMI can't wait to see the Mummy 3!! Does anyone know when it'll come out in Germany??
By the way, I'm maybe Germany's biggest Brendan Fraser Fan, so all my nicest greetings to him.
And of course to the rest of the Mummy family.

I'm back too!
By maz on January 14, 2008 12:33 PMWelcome Comen. All Brendan's fans are accepted here. We are a bit loony but all of us are well intentioned.
Hey David, We are going nowhere. We've just been a bit quiet this last few days.
Comen, take a look at the old threads, particularly the one between when they were filming in Montreal and moving on to China. You'll see we were at our best there, keeping ourselves occupied during the long period between Rob's updates. We hope you like the humour.
DeeDee, Great to see you back.
I managed to get on to TAIB site this morning. Nicccceee!!!!!!!
Where are the rest of you? Who else wants to tell us where they would like to travel to? Remind me not to visit Japan. The way my luck has been going they'd probably have a really big earthquake if I went there.
Let's have some input here. We all seem to have been asleep lately.
YES. POST PRODUCTION! =D That was an amazing video, Rob!
Hey, friends! I certainly know I havn't been seen around here lately. I'm sorry! Busy, busy D; How is everyone?

Hi Erica ! Welcome back !! As Maz said we are all OK. But...I´m a little worried about Suzie...I hope she is OK. She has been lost for eons ! Oh well, maybe I´m exaggerating ( as always...LOL ) and Suzie is probably too busy, like my friend KL. She is pretty well now, but the poor girl is always in a hurry...hyper-mega busy ! We still love you KL !! LOL LOL. Just can back when you can darling...cuz we miss you here!!

Bedtime actually for me too, lol.
HECKYEAH. GO TEAM COHEN!!!
By Erica on January 14, 2008 8:47 PMHello you looney bunch of misfits,
I apologize for my absence recently. It's good to see a lot of new names here on this blog. Erica, welcome back to the mix.
For the topic I started, I can't believe how many of you said Egypt. It never crossed my mind, but now that I think of it, I would love to. It is high up there on my list. Maz, that's nice of you to mention 9/11. I live in New York, and I probably think about it at least once a day. But that is very kind of you to say. Anita, you write well. It didn't cross me that you were Dutch. Cool.
Cloudy, I have a sneaking suspicion why you might want to go to Amsterdam. Harold and Kumar may book tickets with you! Dee, I'm with you. Mediterranean would be beautiful. I would like to find the lost city of Atlantis. And, yea, shame on us for no love for China.
David, I think you may be correct, but we will just have to stay strong, and hope that this anonymous internet site doesn't get flooded with trolls. Free speech is a dangerous thing. Dee is right. It is 'our movie.' We are kind of a part of it. More of a part of it than most people, anyways.
I hope Suze is okay, and Indy for that matter. Hope they come back and share. We must keep ourselves in a state of occupied sanity like Maz says. We will entertain ourselves because we still have a long ways to go. To answer my where question, if I could visit any place in the world it would be most likely Italy (for the beauty everywhere), France (for some excellent food and drink), London (and go on the Jack the Ripper tour), or a tropical island of some sort. It is not very novel, but it's true.
Enjoy today,
Ryan
Go Team.
By Ryan on January 14, 2008 9:08 PMHi Ryan,
By maz on January 15, 2008 8:16 AMYes 9/11 affected me greatly at the time. I was glued to the television when it was happening and could not believe that anyone could be so evil that they would kill so many people indiscriminately (don't know if I spelled that right). I still think about the victims and their relatives even now.
If you go to London you should visit Madame Tussauds and the planetarium. The tower of London is a bit spooky but well worth a visit too.
By the way, us loony bunch of misfits fit very well here. We enjoy our looniness to the full!!!!!
9/11 was a sad day for the world.
I would love to go to the Tower of London! All the history. The Crown Jewels. The fact that it used to be a prison! I've done Madame Tussauds here in NY, but I would like to see what the UK has to offer. Perhaps a wax Helen Mirren?
We are quite looney, aren't we?
Ryan
Loon.
By Ryan on January 15, 2008 10:55 AMMadame Tussauds is constantly changing the exhibits so I don't know who they have there currently. I expect you will see Helen Mirren there though. I like the chamber of horrors best (and as far as I know they don't have a mummy).
By maz on January 15, 2008 11:26 AMYep we are certainly quite loony but it's fun, isn't it?
Hey Guys!!
Oh yeah, Ryan...Quite looney and proud of it !! LOL
BTW Maz, I took the advice you gave to Comen...and I was reading those posts...you are right girl...we certainly were at our best there !! Definitely freaking funny !!
OK David...you was worried about we could lost each other, and now you are disappearing ?? LOL Just a joke..but come back soon Lil´Bro, LOL! The same for the rest of you people ( Cappie, Steven, KL, Suzie, Kyle, Anita..mmmOK, you know who you are LOL )
See ya soon

By drew on January 15, 2008 2:11 PMHello everyone!
Thanx a lot for the warm welcome! I surely will do you biding and read your comments in the next days. The documentary on Brendan's Rainy Day was really great... Loved the falling of the tree scene, can't wait to see the scene on the screen.
By Comen on January 15, 2008 3:42 PMAnyway, I started the ultimative The Mummy Countdown and watched the first movie last night. The second one followed this morning...I should work on my master thesis, but whatever... (To quote Jonathan: And did I panic? I think not! (maybe later...))
I'm really looking forward to the score as well. I loved the Dragonheart-Score, it's one of my all-time-favourites. Do my hopes are high. (was that an actual saying in english?? Sorry if I sound too germnan sometimes, but my english is very rusty these days)
Germans and English is really a gifficult matter as no one in Germany ever watches a movie in the original language (which is mostly english of course).
You see: almost ALL movies are dubbed here; in the theaters, in television, everywhere. It's really annoying. So, as a matter of fact I love DVD: Now I can watch all my favourite movies in english. And Brendans original voice is just soooo much better than the german one...
@maz: Please feel free to visit Japan sometime. It's really a great place. If you go to Kyoto you should be safe as there aren't that many earthquakes. In Tokyo it's a different story though. We had one feelable earthquake every month or so. That's why we could "predict" it so well.
It's almost one in the morning and tomorrow is a very important day, so good night everyone!
Hi Comen,
By maz on January 15, 2008 4:54 PMDon't worry: we can work out what you are saying.
I hope you do concentrate on your thesis because education is very important. I know watching Brendan is more fun, and a lot more exciting, but you can watch him to your heart's content when your thesis is done.
Do find time to read through the old threads here because we really let our imaginations run riot and it made us all roar with laughter each time we logged in to the site and discovered what everyone else had written. I'm sure you'll love it.
Like you said it is bedtime so I'm off to get some shuteye (it's 12.55 a.m here).
Hi Comen, nice to see you again ! I´m glad that you enjoyed " Brendan´s Rain Day"... And don´t worry about your english...If these adorable guys can cope with my english...I´m sure they can cope with yours...LOL.LOL.LOL!!We are a really nice group, you´ll see... hmmm... we get a little delusional sometimes, but we are still lovely !! LOL LOL...and we always support each other !Awww yes, I´m with you...I HATE dubbed movies...yeah...no doubt Brendan´s original voice is better...than any other...aheemmm...well,I mean, he has a wonderful voice ...eerr...mmmOK...I´ll stop here LOL LOL. So, Maz is right " education is very important"...but I guess you should indulge yourself with a little bit more of Brendan material...so just go and watch the " extras" of the Mummy movies ! LOL !!
( BTW Maz, you are being a Lil´Night Owl, just like my friend KL and myself !! )
OK Mummy Family...see you all tomorrow

Good morning Angels,
Comen, I'm with you! I love the score to Dragonheart. When I heard Mr. Robbie Cohen was directing, I knew Randy Edelman would write the score. So when I heard, I went out and go it. I have never seen the entire film, but the score to Dragonheart is phenomenal. It has some beautiful themes, and it really soars. I highly recommend it if anyone was so inclined. It is very good.
I hope his talent translates well in the Mummy universe. We had some great music in the first two films, so this one has a lot to live up to. I have hope, though. No reservations. And don't worry about your English. It is still better than most of the people that live here!

Well, speaking as someone who could hear monks chanting when I stood in the ruins of a monastery chapel, I know it would be a difficult experience for me to go to the 9/11 site. Like Anita, I would probably try to engulf the site with healing energy. I would hope that it would help the poor souls who passed over there. Sometimes I don't like what I pick up but I think the victims deserve our respect so we should all pay our respects if we go to New York.
By maz on January 16, 2008 11:59 AMMaybe we could all meet up there one day to say a prayer.
Bye for now folks. I'll check in later.
Oh, totally, Anita. I use it on all the girls I meet. But only the ones from Holland. I am a gentleman. lol
Hey, David, what's happening? Good to have you back. How is that job?

L.O.O.N.E.Y.
By Ryan on January 16, 2008 12:05 PMHi everyone,
woah, that was a day. I swear my professor is going to turn ME into a mummy very soon. Note to self: Start writing that introduction really soon.
Please don't be too anxious about me writing my thesis, I'm just starting and have another 6 months to go. Of course over 100 pages aren't something one can write in just a night, but I'll manage it somehow. Promised.
And as I can't sit over this thesis all day (otherwise I'll go nuts) I'll make yoga for clearing my thoughts, medidate (don't enjoy it that much I keep thinking about all kind of stuff)and watch the Mummy movies. But as I know them by heart already I have to find some other stuff to be occupied with sometimes. Now, today I found the first two books of a series from Elizabeth Peters about an female egyptologist called Amelia Peabody. This series consists of 18 installments already and started in 1975. It has some interesting similarities to the Mummy movies: She finds a husband, they have to fight living mummies and all that and have a son later, who also continues the stories later.
That's very interesting, isn't it? Does anyone know these books? I think I'll start on these now, while waiting for the third movie.
Last night I realized with horror, that the tree-falling-scene might get cut. I mean, Rob and his team are editing now, and who knows? Well, its his movie so I won't make any complaints. Please Rob, do as you please. Make a dashing good movie!
Talking about 9/11: I was visiting the US in summer 2001 for the last time (till today)and went to NY with my american family (Love You!!). We stood in front of the World Trade Center, but it was bad weather and we decided to climb it some other time I'll be back in the US, but that time will now never come...
And the lesson: Even if you think you'll have all the time of the world, the end may come faster than you think. One should live life to the fullest every single day! So go out, into the sun (if you have any)and watch everything there is to see! That's my lifes motto.
That's todays message from me. Have a nice day everyone out there!
By Comen on January 16, 2008 12:47 PMMy sentiments exactly Comen.
By maz on January 16, 2008 3:08 PMCan I give you some advice? When you meditate try this.... imagine you are climbing a steep hill (lovely scenery all around you). You come to a fence, with a closed gate. You are carrying a heavy suitcase, which contains all your worries and fears. You must put the case down and leave it there before you open the gate and continue to the top of the hill. Just see where your mind takes you. It will surprise you, believe me. It helps if you have some soothing music to listen to as well.
Hi lovely family,
Maz i get the chills when you wrote that to Comen....I feel there is so much connection between the people on this blog...i am very thankful for that ...I had a very weird dream about Brennie, he is emotionally very busy that's for sure.We can all send him our love..i am off have to paint again for a young woman who's name is Sterre ( star) beautiful isn't it ??
See ya,
By anita on January 17, 2008 12:08 AMAnita XXX
hello,my friends, am here again. am still living,ok? LOL.
By indy vs. rick on January 17, 2008 9:07 AMI just watched on Discovery channel the documentary abouth the first emperor of China and they shows Shi Huan`s Mauseleum and i said "wow! how many men (and blood) was used to build such Cyclopean tomb?" and i saw the terracota soldiers too.
Hey there,
@maz thanx so much for the tip, I'll be sure to try it later.
@anita you're a painter?? That's so awesome. I wanted to study design at the bauhaus university at some point, but as I love languages that much I turned to study japanese...but painting is still my favourite hobby!
Yeah...the terracota soldiers stirred a scandal in Germany some weeks ago. In Hamburg was an exhibition that had some of these soldiers on display. Half of Germany was on its way to see the soldiers(or so it seemed) when the unbelievable truth was discovered: The soldiers on display weren't the real thing! Just copies. Well, I wasn't too surprised. (I knew the real ones were at the British Museum.)
I have read some of the earlier comments on the Mummy movies, Rob Cohens work and Indy vs. Rick. Was really interesting. Of course I have my own opinion as well on these subjects, but I fear I have to make it short, otherwise Rob will ban me from his Blog site for writing too much. (Sorry! ^^")
Some people seem to hate sequels very much. Okay, the most sequels (including Pirates of the Caribbean) aren't as good as the first movie. I think the Mummy sequel "Return of the Mummy" is better than the first movie, because the story goes deeper (past history of Imhotep, Evy etc.), the jokes are funnier, Alex is just too cute and the love story between Rick and Evy is just too romantic...(sorry I actually used the "r"Word) Of course the first one was good too, but the second one was a little bit better, in my opinion at least. I love Rachel Weisz very much and am sorry she isn't on board this time, but when Rob says he think Maria Bello and Brendan Fraser also have a very good chemistry, I'll believe him.
I'm sorry Rob that I don't know the most of your movies, but I always wanted to say that Dragonheart was my favourite movie when I was 13 years old! I loved Dennis Quaid ever since...^-^
By Comen on January 17, 2008 1:02 PMAs to Indi vs. Mummy, I've seen all Indiana Jones movies, I like Harrison Ford (but mostly for being Han Solo), but I still think the Mummy is better. And thats why Indiana Jones never reacts to sentimental feelings, forgets his girlfriends after one fight is over and never had a family...(that are very silly reasons...but I'm a woman for God's sake...)(Okay, in Indi 4 he'll meet his son, but has he ever been a dad? Like Rick O'Connel for Alex??)
So and that's why I always thought the Mummy is just another Indiana Jones like movie and didn't wanted to watch it that much. When I watched it and exspecially after the second one I thought "Wow, that's different!" (At least in the hero-heroine relationship department.) Now, I understand that many men think that's boring, but a functional relationship is exactly the thing woman want...
Sorry, talked too much again...
Well said Comen. That's what women want to see on screen because the reality is somewhat less satisfying (usually). In an interview Brendan said that we go to the movies to be transported away (or words to that effect). Women like to see a romance like Rick and Evie's because real life doesn't usually go quite to plan in that department. Meeting a soulmate is a rare occurence in anyone's life so a "functional relatiionship" on screen somehow makes us believe it is possible (even when life's experiences have hardened you against that belief). I can imagine that men might find the romance aspect of The Mummy films a little slushy but we love it, don't we girls?
By Maz on January 17, 2008 1:22 PMHey Rob, remember I said that I hadn't seen Dragonheart? Well I was looking through some videos in a charity shop today and guess what I found? Yes Dragonheart! So I've just watched it and had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat at the end. I loved it.
By maz on January 17, 2008 5:02 PMEveryone else on this site had seen it so I felt a bit left out. Anyway, I'm glad I watched it.
If this Mummy film is half as good I'll be very happy..... but, of course, I know it will be GREAT!!!!!!
Yay, Maz! Glad you watched it. Ans I know, the end ... oh, it's just heartbreaking but at the same time almost happy? Hard to explain. But my 9 year-old sister and her friend watched it and cried like a baby at the end! Then got in a long conversation of 'Do you think dragons ever existed?' Lol.
And whoever doesn't like the romantic aspect of the Mummy movies .. well, I've got something to say to them .. ;p
HECKYEAH. GO TEAM COHEN!!!
By Erica on January 17, 2008 6:18 PMHi ya family !
I am so looking forward to the movie...Rob,are you there yet ??Impatience is defenitely not a virtue...
Headache for three days now very annoying...Comen yes i do paint but maybe not the way as you are used to...I paint spiritual paintings and drawings for people you can see on www.angelic-art.nl
( anita van der est )...But i can make more common drawings offcourse, landscapes, animals people but i prefer spiritual.rob will there be some extra's when we buy the dvd ?With a kind a documentary or something ??That would be interesting.

So when we can see a trailer? Or at least a tesaer? :)
By Oconnel on January 18, 2008 2:57 AMGoodmorning my little golden sausages,
Indy, welcome back. How's life been treating you.
Comen, I like what you're saying about 'The Mummy Returns.' I think the the first film is better than the second, but the second is my favorite, and undoubtedlygets more plays on my DVD player. I do think it is deeper and has a hell of a lot more going on, but there are some aspects that are questionable. I love that the second one swashbuckles (There's that word again, Dee!) more and the music and just the scale is larger by ten fold. Ku-Dos to Mr. Stephen Sommers, who I don't think gets enough of a mention on here. Clap it up for him.
But yes, to say that I'm eager to see what the trailer is like is perhaps a bit of an understatement. That would be like saying that I am kind of excited to see the 'X-Files' or 'Dr. Jones' sequel.
Rock on friends,
Ryan
Loontastic.
By Ryan on January 18, 2008 11:21 AMRyan, I have to check in each day to see what you are going to call us next..... I think I like being a little golden sausage.
By maz on January 18, 2008 12:08 PMI must admit that I am looking forward to a trailer too. Let's hope Rob gets the time to let us see one soon.
I like a bit of swashbuckling myself so I'm hoping for a big slice of that in the Mummy 3.
Anita, I hope your headache is easing off now.
Erica, I'm glad I'm not the only soppy person who cried at the end of Dragonheart. It was a bit sad though.
Hi to all the other golden Sausages out there!
@Ryan --why sausages?? ^-^ just wondering
@maz your tip for mediation worked really great. thanx
@Anita I checked you website today and liked your paintings on it very much. I'm not a painter of nromal landscapes or portraits either. Sometimes I just feel the urge to grap a pencil an draw very strange things or use a lot of colours with no sense behind it whatsoever. If someones asks me what that is supposed to be I normally can't answer at all. Maybe my hand is moved by angels or something like it, too?? Anyway, I'm sending you a hug! Keep on painting!
Yep, Stephen Sommers really didn't get his share so far. So thanks really a lot for the two previous Mummies.
Today was my movies day! I watched I am legend with two friends. Was really awfully good and kind of creepy. I hope Will Smith gets an Oscar for his performance.
Now I have to say I don't feel too safe around here. Marburg has the virus laboratory in Germany with the highest security (even in the US are only four Laboratorys with the same level), so we got every frightening virus on store here (ebola, plague, Lassa and even the Marburg-virus). So we are always joking about the thread of a break-out, which will hopefully never occur.
Marburg is a very nice little german town: It has a middle aged up town with a castle on top of the hill, and a only slightly more modern down town, which is actually connected to the up town by two elevators. Shortly, it looks like a town out of a Grimms-brothers tale. And ironically, as my university is 425 years old (oldest protestant university in the world), the Grimm brothers studied here actually (200 years ago...). No joke! Maybe Rob would like to shoot one of his next movies here?! Check it out on www.marburg.de (english site also available I think...)
I really should keep my messages short...Sorry... have a nice weekend everyone.
By Comen on January 18, 2008 1:45 PMyo, it's me again! I just checked out the Marburg website once again; the english version is okay, but some parts are still under contruction. But whatever, I found this:
There's a list o famous people, who lived and worked in Marburg at some time in its hstory; and next to the Grimms I found actually a famous Cohen! Yeah, someone called Hermann Cohen was a professor philosophy and founded the german socialism in the 1910! (He lived from 1842-1918) Funny. Just thought you oughta know, Rob. ^-^
By Comen on January 18, 2008 2:06 PMWhy thanks, Maz. I'll try to come up with something swell for next time. I just get bored saying the same old same old. It keeps my mind fresh. And I hope the movie swashbuckles out the ying yang. On a personal note, I love anything remotely related to swashbuckling, and really just enjoy using the term 'swashbuckle.'
Anita, take four Advil, and call us in the morning.
And as for Comen, I originally started my post with 'goodmorning my golden retrievers,' but I thought it may get misinterpreted. I've made some remarks on here meant to be playful that came off as arrogant. I thought it might be offensive, so I decided to go with sausages, because I find any English reference to sausages funny. And golden sausages have to be infinitely funnier than normal sausages. So that's how that happened.
And I was kind of shocked at how good Will Smith was in that movie. His performance was like Tom Hanks in 'Cast Away.' It had that kind of power. Really marvelous. And I love the Steve Sommers shout out.
Love you all,
Ryan

Hi Anita,
By maz on January 19, 2008 11:58 AMI'm glad you are back to your old self again.
I've been watching The Last Time today. I just got it on DVD. I didn't think I would like it but Brendan has done it again.... got me enjoying a film I would never have chosen to watch had he not been in it.
I loved the first Philadephia Experiment film so let me know what part 2 is like Anita.
I hope everyone else is well and happy.
Well, from one little golden sausage to the rest of you ... have a good Saturday night.
Love, Maz xxxxxxx
Hello my Mummy Family !
( well, it seems I´m not the only member of this family who was a little " lost"...where are the Captain, David, Steven, Suzie, Kyle...we miss you all ! KL, I won´t ask for you cuz I know where you are my frantic-busy friend...working like crazy !!! )
Ohh anyway, it´s nice to see that we have a new regular poster, a new " golden sausage" (??) : Comen (Hey Ry, I don´t know either what´s exactly being a " golden sausage"...but if Maz (hey girl!) like to be one...I´ll take it too...Soooooo....golden sausage DeeDee ( LOL LOL ) has to agree with the girls here: the romantic core of The Mummy is simply essential! Rick is not only a tough , strong, fearless (and drop dead gorgeous...ahheemm.)guy...he is not " just" a hero...he is a " romantic hero".The best you can find!!
" Rescue the damsel in distress, kill the bad guy, save the world" Gosh...could anyone imagine something more "swashbuckling" than that ?? LOL LOL ( hey, Ry, now that I know what it means... I agree "I love anything remotely related to swashbuckling " LOL LOL )
See ya all later !
DeeDee
HELLLLL YEEEAAAHHHHHH!!!GOOOO TEAM COHEN!!
By Delilah on January 20, 2008 3:13 AMHi folks, I'm back. :)
I'm not sure if anyone has checked out the Michelle Yeoh web theatre but it has a new link to an interview with Brendan Fraser. He mentions just a few new tidbits such as in this new film, TM3, it is inferred that something bad had happened to Rick and that is what led them to retire.
It's interesting and definitely worth reading for all you Rick/Brendan/Mummy fans out there.
Peace n' Love - Steven :)
By Steven on January 20, 2008 5:10 AMOhh Steven, thank you, thank you dear Bro ! I LOVED the interview !
I LOVE how Brendan describes Rick´s fighting skills..."I won’t say he will fight dirty but he will get the job done quickly so he can protect his family " OMG OMG OMG...speaking about a tough, romantic hero !! Definitely my kind of swashbuckling man ! LOL LOL
"Look, it is better to sweat in peace time than to bleed in war time. The point is that you have to show up ready. I didn’t want to show up and not be ready."
Oh, and I´m so darn sure you are ready Big Bren...That´s the way you look...YUMMY
GOSH !!! I´M DYING TO SEE THIS MOVIE !!!!
DeeDee
HELLLL YEAAAHHH !!!! GO TEAM COHEN !!
By Delilah on January 20, 2008 6:48 AMGuten tag to all you gold flavored sausages,
Yes, Dee, exactly! A romantic hero! You hit the nail on the head. And, of course you are a fellow sausage. There is plenty to go around! And thanks to you, I and probably others looked up swashbuckling. It is worth knowing. Even if you can't articulate it, I can clearly identify what is and isn't now.
Maz, I love that sign off! Nice and clever!
Anita, I always take four Advil. Two just isn't effective enough for me! But it worked, didn't it?
Goodnight biscuits,
Ryan
On a personal note: for those who live in the United States, I hope the Tom Brady and the Patriots go down big time today. Cheers. Go team!
By Ryan on January 20, 2008 1:00 PMOh now I'm really confused!!!! I don't know if I'm a little golden sausage or a biscuit!!!!! However, I'll answer to anything as long as it's not insulting.
By maz on January 20, 2008 2:32 PMI read the interview too. Very interesting!!!!!
Well, chaps and chapesses, your little biscuit flavoured, golden sausage is signing off (still confused but trying to make up my mind which I want to be).
I LOVED that interview, thanx for the tip Steven. Yeah, when I first got the bad news that RW wasn't going to play Evy anymore, I thought it would be better to let the character die at first, but I thought again and came to the conclusion that this really wouldn't be fair for Rick and Alex. Anyway, theý did resurrect her in the second movie, so letting her pass away before the third one would be really awful. (And stupid.) So let's see what Maria Bello has to offer.
I took the advice of watching the Mummy with Brendan's comments. It was great! At the one scene I always thought "wrong answer you twit!", Brendan also said something like that. (You know, the scene on the boat, when Evy asks Rick why he kissed her and he's all "Well I was about to be hanged, it seemed a good idea a that time." HA HA )
Whatever, I really have a problem here. What am I going to do the next seven months till the release?? Pleazzzzze, Rob, show us a twiny little teaser!!
That's already all for today. I prefer being a biscuit by the way. Got a sausage allergy since every japanese guy I met was always like "So you're a german, don't you eat sausage every day??" Yeah, sure I do....so not!!
Have a good night sleep!
By Comen on January 20, 2008 2:58 PMMe too Comen.... I used to think "that was not the right answer, you big girl's blouse)! Sorry Brendan. It's a phrase from an old comedy programme... Hilda Baker playing Nellie Pledge.
By ,az on January 20, 2008 3:24 PMOn the subject of food. I'm half Italian and allergic to wheat so I can't eat spagetti (well not without suffering). One of my more impolite friends said, "who ever heard of a wap, who can't eat pasta"!
Anyway, I'm definitely going to bed now cos I've got to be up early in the morning. Night Night peeps.
Comen i dont understand why you say THE MUMMY series is better than the INDIANA JONES saga, both are very close into genre but way different "animals", in fact withouth INDY there could be no MUMMY nor even NATIONAL TREASURE ¿which film series came first, huh? in fact, as a fan of the INDY films i could tell you those movies are superior not only in conception but in his style, thanks to Spielberg, and i am confident that the new film will be as awesome just like the three first ones, if you didnt noticed Harrison Ford´s character doesnt need to be over expresive in his sentiments, it didnt mean that he is cold, its just mean that he is much more a "Bogart-esque" character, you know, a rough character who is reluctanct to be a hero but at the end he beats that villains, save the day and we cheers him, he is not trying to be a "superhero" he is just an ordinary guy involved in an extraordinary situation and many of us can relate with him. I think KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL will ad much more humanity to to this icon of the old fashioned adventure due his age and along Shia Labeouf as that "James dean" type of character as his son.
By indy vs. rick on January 21, 2008 9:10 AMHello there !
How is everybody doing ??Rumours rumours, they say brendan is dating maria Bello, that must be very painfull especially for Afton.Well i will not give my opinion on this matter because brendan is very on his private life and he should be offcourse...it must be difiicult to be famous don't you think ??Rob ,are we there yet ??I really hope the movie is also like one & Two suitable for kids because they really liked watching them....And then we can go together...
You all have a nice day/evening/morning ??
Love,
By anita on January 21, 2008 9:17 AMAnita X
Hello everyone,
@indyvsrick I just saif that I THINK Indiana Jones isn't quite as good as the Mummy. I enjoyed the Mummy more and therefore it's only my personal opinion. Harrison Ford is a great actor and Steven Spielberg is a master of his profession, but as the storylines told in the movies did never capture my liking as the Mummy did, I can only say what I said earlier.
@anita Didn't you hear?? I googled Brendan Fraser last week and found a newspaper stating that Brendan and Afton are going different ways now. I was a little bit sad about that piece of information, but can't judge anybodys private matters. It was an article from December 27th 2007, so it is really a new info, I guess. Surprises me you didn't know.
Folks, I have to sprint for yoga now. See ya!
By Comen on January 21, 2008 10:04 AMYeah, I just watched Raiders a few weeks ago and enjoyed it again very much. The Indy movies are very entertaining and really are very influential in modern day cinema, especially in the adventure genre. I did like The Mummy & Returns more but that's just me. Raiders and Indy will always be classic movie icons and it has and always will be a difficult feat to top him. I believe the character of Rick O' Connell is the closest whereas the Ben Gates from National was cool and fun but not that same type of hero.
I can't wait to see TM3 and Indy 4. I'm sure they will be both very exciting and entertaining. It sounds cool that George Lucas wants Indy 4 to be more of a B-Grade sci-fi film than a B-Grade Serial like the 1st 3 films. Reinventing and reimagining these two franchises should be interesting to see and how they pan out this May and August respectively.
Love n' peace - Steven :)
P.S. No problem about the Brendan interview tip. I hope you all read and enjoyed it. Any new info from him or the other cast and crew members are always welcome by us fans.
By Steven on January 21, 2008 10:42 AMComen, don´t expect that Indiana vs. Rick is gonna respect your right of prefering the Mummy series...he has been here for a long time, always repeating his mantra "i dont understand why you say THE MUMMY series is better than the INDIANA JONES saga,"...I don´t understand WHY he is still coming and " attacking" our preferences...anyway, he seems to have the right of prefer IJ, but he doesn´t seem to give us the same right of prefer The Mummy series. Is like a never ending story...I told myself I wouldn´t play his game anymore, but he really makes me feel upset...I feel like argue against him is not worth the trouble. He won´t change his mind and CERTAINLY I won´t cahnge mine... and I love this site cuz is-almost all the time-peaceful and friendly ! It has to remain like that. That´s all I have to say about this ( Ohh, that´s so Forrest Gump !! LOL LOL )
Regarding Brendan´s private life, girls, I guess it would be better if we don´t speculate or comment...he surely reads this blog and we don´t want to bother or embarras him, do we ??I know we are sending him a tons of good vibes and wishing him the best !
DeeDee
By Delilah on January 21, 2008 11:03 AMYep DeeDee, you are right that we should not speculate about Brendan's private life. He's an actor but that doesn't make it right for us to intrude on his privacy.
By maz on January 21, 2008 12:27 PMOf course, if I'm honest, I'm curious but curiosity killed the cat!!!!!! In any case rumours can be untrue. If I'd had affairs with all the men people thought I had (as apposed to just friendships) I'd be a very exhausted woman!!!!
I can tell you that all the rumours about me were completely untrue but if you work behind a bar and men flirt with you then people start putting two and two together and coming up with five. With that in mind, I have a completely open mind about any rumours flying around. It isn't our business really, is it?
Yep girls, respect for the private life of a person (be it stranger, fiend or movie star) is very essential, so I didn't spread the rumour here. I thought it could be a "duck" (untrue statement) anyway. I always like about Brendan, that he kept his private life out of the yellow press, which is quite a thing to achive nowadays as a star (or so I guess). And I never intended to be unrespectful in my earlier statement (if it sounded like I was... ey, I'm just a german girl who really lacks english practice these days...), so if you are really reading this, dear Brendan, be assured of my affection. Great photographs on your website, by the way.
Yeah, the Indy vs. TM discussion seems to be as old as this blog (in fact, even older.) I hav the Indy DVD box and therefore watched the movies really often, too. I liked the third one best. Sean Connery and Harrison Ford are a great team and I do hope Sean will show up somewhere in the fourth movie as well. Funny, that I like that movie best as there are once again a lot bad Germans swarming all over the place. (I really do hate Nazis!!)^-^
By Comen on January 21, 2008 12:57 PMI don't wanna open a political discussion here, so I'll leave it to that.
@ maz What rumours exactly?? ^.^ You're half Italian? I'm kind of jealous, would be a nice excuse to drive to Italy again, wasn't there for six years...I LOVE Italy!
Now now Comen. As I said, curiosity killed the cat. Suffice to say that people assume if a man is touchy-feely with a woman there's no smoke without fire. In my case it was all speculation. I'm too sensible for all that. Yes I'm half Italian but it doesn't necessarily follow that I'm hot blooded (it's the top half that's Italian)!!! I'm not prepared to say any more than that (on the grounds that it might incriminate me....and the fact that he was ten years younger than me has got nothing to do with it)!!!!
By maz on January 21, 2008 1:42 PM...Interesting.
Sehr interessant. Trés interessant! omoshiroi! ^-^
By Comen on January 21, 2008 2:06 PMBiscuits and Sausages alike,
Goodmorning. I want to be Switzerland for a second and accept everyones opinions on adventure films. I love Indiana Jones and Rick O'Connell. I think Indiana Jones is a stronger series, but we can all still love them both. I agree a lot with Indy-Rick and Steven. (Steven, I really like your outlook on the future of Indiana Jones. Very cool.)
We don't need to draw lines in the sand, as the Scorpion King might. Dee is right. Let's not get up in arms and let's just take opinions for just that. Opinions. We mustn't be too sensitive.
Many a time I've read something that enraged me on the interweb, and I used to be on the defensive more. I'm jaded now. This year two sequels that I've been waiting a long time for are coming out. I am anticipating the first just as much as the next.
What if in Indy IV we found out he had a son and his name is Rick O'Connell? That would be something...
This is my attempt at a peaceful resolution. Cheers.
Your friendly neighborhood goodwill ambassador,
Ryan

Rob,can you make a remake of some like it hot ??With Brendan and John Hannah and maybe Dee Dee or Maz as Marilyn ??I think it's a good movie i like the classics...I like monty python songs..."i like chinese,i like chinese they only come up to your knees, yet they're cute and they're friendly and they're ready to please...i like chinese food, the waiters never are rude, etc etc..my brother in law has all the cd's...I am off again but I'LL BE BACK !!

By maz on January 22, 2008 2:23 PMCan anyone recommend a travel insurance company who give cover to recent cancer patients? Preferably one which doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Didn't the cast members in "Some Like It Hot" wear dresses and wigs? Hey Brendan, that would be a novel departure. You're pretty enough but you'd be a very tall woman.... I'm just trying to imagine you trying to balance on high heels... hee hee hee.
Hey DeeDee,
By maz on January 22, 2008 2:26 PMEven if we couldn't be in it we could train the boys to walk with a wiggle.
I'm sorry to disturb the good mood going on here, but I just read on Spiegel Online that Heath Ledger is dead!! OH MY GOD! As the Spiegel is a really reliable source I'm totally shocked now. I don't know what to say, that's just so awfully wrong, he was just 28 years old (which makes him three years older than me) and had a very promising career.
By Comen on January 22, 2008 2:45 PMStill can't believe it...
Absolutely Maz...I´m ready to train those lovely guys...hhmmm... you wouldn´t happen to agree if I said that I´ll see to training Brendan and you can look after John...would you ?? Ohhh... I didn´t think you would agree...never mind ! LOL LOL
By Delilah on January 22, 2008 2:53 PMDeeDee
errrrmmmm....... no way!!!!! We could take it in turns though. He will need days of training....maybe even weeks!!!!
By Maz on January 22, 2008 3:04 PMComen, I'm sorry to hear about another actor dying. It's tragic when they die young like that.
Just checked and it does appear to be breaking news. They say it is a possible drugs related death. Sorry Comen, it looks as if it is true.
By maz on January 22, 2008 3:08 PMYep, I just checked Focus and the NY Times and had a chat about with my neighbour. It's exspecially sad for his daughter, who will now never know her dad. That's something you'll have to chew on all your life (it's my own experience), even more if your dad could have made some efforts for his life and not swallowed drugs or alcohol.
By Comen on January 22, 2008 3:36 PMSorry, I destroyed the good mood, chaps! -_-"
I'm sorry you had that experience Comen but drugs change people and it's hard for them to think of others. I had three male friends who committed suicide in their twenties (and before anybody says it... no it was not the stress of knowing me). It seemed such a terrible waste but you can't turn back time, only try to accept the choices they made.
By maz on January 22, 2008 4:03 PMIt's sad but it happens all too often.
Dear Rob, it was a wonderful experience to be an extra in your bar scene in Mummy3. i had been happy until after we were paid. your Shanghai Puxi cast man treated me extremely unfair. he paid me only 1000 yuan. although i did not go to your movie for money, i felt very bad for having been treated unfairly.
By Yina on January 22, 2008 5:35 PMHey all,
It is hard to believe that Heath Ledger is gone. Today was just another day, and this really hit hard. I know none of us have ever probably met him, but I felt like he was very normal and extremely grateful and down to earth. I will miss him a great deal. It is truly a shame that he had to go this way at such a peak in his career. I have a very bad feeling in my stomach from all of this. I think it is the feeling of helplessness. I think the hardest thing a person can feel is helpless, that there is nothing they can do. I'm sorry to have to write all this, but I wanted to honor him in some way.
This is a dark day for cinema. I'm very sorry for his loved ones and fans alike. I will miss him a great deal.
Ryan
By Ryan on January 22, 2008 11:24 PMRyan, you are right. This is tragic but it is the risk that a lot of celebrities take when they live on the edge. In the old days it was drink and fast cars (James Dean). These days it is so called recreational drugs (although I can't see anything recreational about addiction).
By maz on January 23, 2008 2:49 AMBrendan, don't you ever start living that kind of lifestyle or Delilah, Suzie, KL and me will have to come over there and sort you out!!!!!!
Hi Ryan,
I so totally share your opinion. Let's share one minutes silence in memory of an actor who would have had a great career ahead.
By Comen on January 23, 2008 3:38 AM@maz thanks for your kind feelings. My past ist something I usually can go on about hours at a time. But be assured I didn't had quite that disastrous childhood as my mother found a new father for my when I was 5 (an age one thinks it is toally cool getting a new dad) and he remains that to this very day. So I was lucky, I guess. And as I'm the living memory of my late father and have loads of his best characterisics as my mom puts it, I guess I'll go on living as happy as I am. ^-^
DRUGS AND ALCOHOL ARE DOING YOU (AND EVERYONE ELSE) NO GOOD!!!
Amen to that Comen!!!!!!!

By Maz on January 23, 2008 11:04 AMDavid, Don't work too hard....come back and see us here soon.
Ryan, We all should know how destructive drugs can be. People should take up meditation..... it's a much better buzz. So much talent goes to waste when drugs are involved. Actors seem to be going down the same road musicians did in the past. Look how many of those died young.
Let's all keep our minds clear and unfuddled (put that bottle down Cloudy)!
Be safe people.
Uh-Oh. Everyone's having the drug conversation now. I knew it was coming. Here's my opinion. I'm gonna say that I agree with some of what has been said about the destructive capabilities of drugs, but at the same time I disagree wholeheartedly. Heath Ledger MAY have died of a drug overdose, but I hardly believe that sleeping pills were the full on culprits. Let's not forget that Heath just took on one of the hardest roles of his career. He had to change his entire persona for months to play a demented, psycho-pathic villain in The Dark Knight. I can only imagine the stress it put on both his mind and body. He even stated himself that he didn't like the character all that much due to the veil of isolation he had to keep himself in to stay in character. This potentially/eventually ruined his relationship with his wife leading to divorce a couple of months ago. Just imagine how his situation felt... losing endless amounts of nutrients and sleep just to some extreme method acting to please some IMDB naysayers. The body can only take but so much, and as soon as he wrapped Dark Knight he was off to his next movie for director Terry Gilliam. Stress and Exhaustion can bring death just as quickly as any narcotic. That's why I really hate when people jump on the "drugs are bad" bandwagon. People are the ones that snort, inject and smoke the "intoxicants"... The drugs don't get high off us, we get high off them. It's our responsibility to know how to moderate and/or avoid these vices as we see fit. It doesn't make a difference whether I drink or smoke alot, I'm gonna live my life to fullest regardless. I shouldn't have to be put in a designated alcoholic/pothead box because my own personal choices. I mean, People die everyday (every 5-15 minutes to be factual about it) and most of those deaths are not drug related. It's just called the Circle of Life, we are all born to die in a sense and it's a matter of when & where it's gonna happen. What happened to Heath was sad but we should not cloud our minds with thoughts of what caused this tragic event. We should remember him for his life not his death. Not taking this moment as reason to point the finger at the world of Narcotics. OK, I'm done ranting. That's my opinion, take it or leave it.
HELLL YEEEEAA!! GO TEAM COHEN!!
By Clouded_Reality on January 23, 2008 1:26 PMHi Clouded Reality,
thanx for your point of view! As there is yet no official statement on how he died I don't want to make any finger pointing on Heath. It just hurts his family. Nevertheless, regarding my personal feelings and my personal history I can just state once again what I said earlier.
True is, there are a lot of drugs around us: for one person it might be smoking, for the other one it's alcohol, even chocolate or internet can become a drug if consumated to much.
By Comen on January 23, 2008 2:50 PMMaz is right if she suggests meditation for getting an insight in one's own life. In fact, everyone has some kind of drug in his/her life.
Whatever, I'm going to watch a Knight's Tale or another movie with Heath in it now. The phrase remember him for his movies is quite the right thing to do.
Have a good night's sleep all ye biscuit flavoured golden sausages out there!
Hi Cloudy,
By maz on January 23, 2008 3:40 PMChill out sweetie. While I agree with Comen that you have the right to your opinion and I agree with your observations regarding stress and lack of nutrients, I still believe that excess alcohol and drugs change a person's way of thinking. Remember I told you about my male friend who died before Christmas? Well he was a lovely man but he drank himself to death and had a serious chest disease from smoking. Everything in moderation but I can't agree with you on drugs. Any drug alters the chemical make up in your brain. Rarely do they make life more bearable.
That's just my opinion and you don't have to agree with me but I hope one day you'll come to think I was right.
In any case we don't mean to upset you (and it looks like we did) so let's agree to disagree on this subject.
Lots of love, Maz xxxx
Oh boy...what the hell is going on here, Mummy Family ?? How did we come from our funny, brilliant and delusional comments ( so darn amusing !! )about a spectacular movie ( TM3 of course !! )to this too dark, too serious, and maybe inappropiate subject ?? and I´m saying " inappropiate" cuz I honestly think that we shouldn´t discuss something so personal like the private life, the choices, the behavior, whatever, of a man who didn´t decide to share his personal stuff with us...at least we shouldn´t do it on a public board, which is dedicated to a movie, and so it´s supposed to be just and simply FUNNY ! Certainly, we have discussed many " personal " things before...but it was always about one of us...I mean, the person who was involved, could always participate in our discussion...aawww well,I don´t know if I was clear ( eerrr....do you remember that old " english is not my first language" excuse of mine ?? LOL )...But I didn´t mean to sound preachy, my dear bunch...so, I´m sorry if I did...well, just my humble opinion...OK, "I´m done ranting" too...LOL LOL ( Hey Captain, nice to see you around. And you too David. We missed you both, bros !!)
HELLL YEEEAAAHHH!!! GO TEAM COHEN !!!
By Delilah on January 23, 2008 3:44 PMLOL. Maz and Comen (Great to meet ya Comen!!), I respect both of your opinions and I won't say that I was upset or anything at all. My rant was not filled with hate or anger, but passion. It's just that I kinda get in defensive mode when people bring up the whole "drug" thing, because I feel that I'm not what the stereotypes portray. We're family anyway and brothers and sisters disagree all the time, so everything's right as rain between us all. I'm sending you both digital X's and O's. LOL. Double-D, you're right about the subject matter. I think things may have gone a little awry when we started venturing into the spiritual realm. We can go back to the funny stuff whenever you want. I'll follow suit. I would be a little more into the delusiional stuff right now anyway if we had some trolls to battle with. I reckon they were a neccessary evil. We could venture back to IMDB but I don't wanna even attempt to entertain those a-holes again. We'll figure out something, but until then... let's ease back on the serious and personal stuff for a bit and get back to our glorious Mummy movie. Agreed!? Hey, we never finishes coming up with Mummy 4 ideas. Let's get those noodles workin' everyone. Captain's orders!! LOL.
HELLLLLL YEAAAA!! GO TEAM COHEN!!
By Clouded_Reality on January 23, 2008 4:08 PMOh Finally ! We are gonna have some fun again !! Cappie, couldn´t agree more...We need to get delusional, big time...I don´t think we should go to IMDb again either...You`re right: we just would be entertaining those poor lousy things ( although to tell you the truth, I´m kinda missing that stupid and obsessed poster who dedicated me his threads...aawww, that was so nice of him LOL! Sadly, he was trolling so badly...and the administrators had to delete those posts...SOB SOB ...LOL LOL ) ...did you see that they are STILL making threads like "Woowww... No Egypt ??"; " Pop of Flop ??";
" What?? No Rachel ?? " DUHHHHHH!!! Geezz...I can´t believe it...
Anyway, I´m ready to follow your orders...but not tonight Cappie...Gosh, I need to sleep sometimes, for goodness sake!!
Double-D saying off.
HELLL YEEEAHHH !!! GO TEAM COHEN !!!

i just read some of your posts sorry everyone remember i said i didn't read your posts yet when i last posted i must have sounded soo ignorant to pop in with a kinda cherry post when everyone was having such a serious conversation sorry bout that anyway just want to leave a quick comment on the Heath Subject i really respected him as an actor he was a real credit to modern cinema and he will be missed my respects and regards to his family i was deeply saddened when i read of his death and i can still not believe it.
I will not say to much on this subject other than that for i do agree with Delilah i think the man deserves privacy and respect the circumstances as to how he died are not the business of anyone but himself and his family no one knows what the man was going through or what really happened so it is not for anyone to judge and i think it is unforgivable the scenes on the news of his body being taken away from his home i think it is really disrespectful we must as you have all said remember him for his life and his amazing work in the characters he played.
I'm sorry for going back to that subject when everyone here was trying to leave it but i wanted to comment i will not comment on the Drugs issue as of yet it is an extremely complex issue and out of respect for Heath i think it is best discussed another time.
K ive said enough for now i think must head off to bed hope everyone is doing well how are you all I'm glad we are going to get back to our mummy roots with some good old delusions lol i will consider some plots for mummy 4 and get back to you all but here's a question i was thinking about when i read your posts earlier do you guy all think that The Mummy Franchise would have been soo closely compared to or put head to head with the Indiana Jones Franchise if they both were not having a new adventure released this year I'll tell you guys what i think later lol

I've got my thinking cap on but, so far, zilch!
By maz on January 24, 2008 2:51 AMCan anyone tell me which other ancient civilisations mummified their dead? That might help.
I'm drawn to Aztecs but they didn't mummify did they?
Help!!!! Has anyone else got any ideas?
Ok peeps, after a little check on the net, it appears that the Chincharro tribe in Chile practised a type of mummification and the Inca's practised a freeze drying process of mummification. There are two possibilities to start with. I expect I can find some more if I try.
By maz on January 24, 2008 3:02 AMSome more info. 250 years ago the Aluet tribe in Alaska practised a form of mummification. I'm not drawn to that though.
By maz on January 24, 2008 3:23 AMThe Incas were banned from using mummification by the Spanish. What if the Inca's secretly killed and mummified a Spaniard, who is hell bent on revenge because his soul is earthbound (not having been given the last rites or a Christian burial)?
Help me out folks.....any ideas?
Hello bro's and sisters!
At the moment I'm working to earn some money for a living. And now I can cite from the Mummy movie again:
I'm proud of what I am. I am a librarian!
Okay, I'm just a students assistant to our librarian here at my faculty, but as I do almost the same stuff as my boss all the time, I guess it counts. We're having so much fun tossing book shelfs around, awakening the dead...^-^ (mostly sleeping students appearing to be dead...) Today to my way to the university library I realised that the way there was called Hermann Cohen way...how funny...
Mummy 4 sounds great. As I like creating stories a lot, I have an idea. But it's totally bogus, so don't be too mad with me.
By Comen on January 24, 2008 3:34 AMOnly one son is a little bit boring so I imagined Rick and Evy could have had a daughter, too. I made her two years younger than Alex. But as other celeb families at that time lost their childs to kidnapping (namely the Charles Lindbergh case), so did the O'Connels. The girl was kidnapped, maybe with other reason than getting money. Maybe some kind of secret society did it again...She was removed from England and due to an accident the kidnapper might have had an accident(some undead may be the cause to that), the child is raised in an orphanage in--maybe France?? She has may look a lot like her mother, but her character could be like a second O'Connel. The real story then plays two years after the Mummy 3. (Mainly it's a story about the daughter finding her family. Undead people, mummies, ghosts whatever one might like could be added in rough quantities!!)
I don't want to bore you too much at the moment...I'll need to do my work now...
Maz, I like your idea about the spaniard coming back to life. I think the Incans would be an interesting civilization to see on screen. I just read an article too, on the Incans that has mind buzzin' a little bit. The article talked about a mummified Incan child that was recently unearthed and displayed again for profit. That's when it hit me, what if the next mummy was a child. You know, about King Tut's age or something. I think a kid would add an interesting dynamic to the story because he could be both innocent and viscious. I just can't find his motif for coming back to life and a
